4WD Australian Outback Tours

‘Remember back when a holiday was a real adventure?’….. that’s our philosophy.

Tri State Safaris have a wide variety of tours available ranging from a two-hour sunset tour of the Broken Hill Sculpture Symposium to extended tours of central Australia and beyond. Popular destinations include Broken Hill, Silverton, Menindee Lakes, White Cliffs, Corner Country, Birdsville, Innamincka, the Simpson Desert and the Flinders Ranges.

Local National Parks such as Kinchega, Mutawintji, Sturt and Mungo are also very popular destinations for short tours and we even travel as far as Darwin and the Kimberley on our longer tours.

All tours are designed to introduce travellers to the remarkable Australian outback, allowing them to experience the remote and sometimes unforgiving countryside in safety. The tours are not just tours, they are, as the name suggests, safaris where the accent is on learning and having fun. Tours can also be customised to suit clients requests.

To ensure each of our passengers experience the adventure of the outback, our focus is on personalised service. Travel is in 4WD vehicles enabling us to get to out of the way places and cater for the needs of individuals and small groups no matter what their interests.

We have made a commitment to ecologically sustainable tourism, and we encourage our customers to experience natural areas to gain a better understanding of the environment, European and Aboriginal culture and to better appreciate the need for conservation.  Some of our tours are now identified as having Advanced Eco-Certification.

Eco-Certification means that you, as a customer, can expect, and experience a genuine eco-tourism product.

As we are based in the outback we know the area, it’s people, history, flora and fauna extremely well. A stop in the middle of seemingly nowhere could have you gathering bush tucker, visiting ancient aboriginal art sites or learning about unusual plants, animals and their habitats. In other words, it’s an outback experience and an education.

Our meals are mostly home-made, and have received acclaim on programs such as ‘The Today Show’, ‘Great Outdoors’ and ‘Sydney Weekender’. We have established a great reputation for our catering, with clients including Corporate Adrenalin, ARB, Bushranger, Variety Club VIC, 4X4 Australia magazine.

Our tours have also been highlighted in numerous printed media, including the Sydney ‘Sunday Telegraph’ and ‘Sun Herald’ and the London Mail. Michael is also a presenter on the lifestyle series “Four Wheel Freedom” and the Bushranger promotional DVD's.

We welcome children on our tours. Children under 5 travel free and we offer child prices for the age group of over 5 and under 13 years. Pets cannot be accommodated on tour, both in consideration of other passengers as well as the prohibition of pets in national park areas. Smoking is not permitted in any of the vehicles.

People with physical disabilities should note that access in and out of a conventional 4WD is difficult, and many of the tours have a bush walking component. However, we may be able to accommodate passengers with disabilities by arrangement.
