Day 1: 8.30am pick up from your accommodation or
railway station. The days travel takes in both arid and
rugged scenery. Lunch at Waukeringa Ruins Historic Site
before arriving at our destination on one of the largest
(1700 sq kms) working sheep stations in the
Flinders Ranges. Accommodation is in comfortable historic stone
shearers quarters circa 1860. While staying here take a
walk through the shearing shed, feed the horses, or just
take a quite moment to spot the birds and kangaroos.
After dinner experience the wonder of an outback night
sky. (L,D) Day 2:
Today we travel we travel through the towns of Blinman,
Parachilna and onto Copley for lunch at one of the
outback’s best bakeries. From here we travel on to
Marree
for our overnight stay in the local hotel. While in
Marree we’ll visit the junction of the Birdsville &
Oodnadatta Tracks and relics left over from the days of
camel trains and the famous ‘Ghan’ railway.

Day 3: This morning we continue along the
Oodnadatta Track with morning tea alongside Lake Eyre
South, then onto William Creek, the smallest town in
Australia and situated on Anna Creek Station, the
world’s largest cattle station (appx. The size of
England). From here we take the 4wd track to the shores
of
Lake Eyre north at Halligan Point. Tonight’s
accommodation is at the unique
William Creek Hotel.

Day 4: An early start to the day for a scenic
flight over Lake Eyre. Then we hit the road in time to
visit Lake Cadibarrawirracanna (Cadi) on our way to
Coober Pedy, Australia’s opal mining capital, with time
to start exploring this most unique outback town. Visit
underground opal showrooms, and much more.

Day 5: This morning we finish our look around
this fascinating town before heading south along the
Stuart Highway past numerous inland salt lakes, towards
Port Augusta at the head of the Spencer Gulf, for our
overnight stay. (LB,L,D)
Day 6: We start the day with a visit to
Wadlata Outback Centre for an interpretive look at the
history of the outback. We then head through Horrock’s
Pass to Orroroo for lunch at the award winning Maggie’s
Rendezvous. After lunch we continue on through
Peterborough on our way back to Broken Hill for tours
end. |
