Mungo is an area
rich in Aboriginal history. Evidence found here dates
back well over 40,000 years to man's early occupation of
this once much wetter area. This area is listed as a
World Heritage area, and is the site of the world’s
oldest human cremation.

picked up by your guide from Tri State Safaris to begin
your small group adventure into the amazing NSW outback.
Travelling south from Broken Hill our destination today
is Avoca On Darling – a heritage homestead on the banks
of the Darling River. After settling into your classic
room in the homestead it’s time for lunch, followed by a
guided walk around the property with your hosts to learn
about their way of life, the history of the buildings,
and maybe meet the local wildlife. Afternoon tea will be
followed by free time to relax and enjoy– perhaps you
would like play a game of tennis on the modern court or
just relax in the beautiful gardens or sit by the river.
Dinner tonight is in the charming dining room with your
hosts. (B,L,D)

river port of Pooncarie, for morning tea and a chat with
some of the locals at the cafe. From here we head to the
world heritage listed Mungo National Park. Our first
stop is at the recently refurbished Mungo Lodge, where
we will check into our well appointed ensuite cabins.

a picnic lunch, and then we start to explore this
amazing area. Step back in time to an era when giant
marsupials roamed the earth. Mungo is an area rich in
Aboriginal history, and evidence found here dates back
