Day 1: Depart
Broken Hill & head through outback
South Australia to our base for the next 3 nights on one of the largest and oldest
established working sheep stations in the
Flinders Ranges. Accommodation
is in historic stone shearers quarters, circa 1860. (430 kms)

Day 2: A day exploring the Flinders. Visit
Wilpena Pound, then marvel at the scenery as we drive through the
amazing Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges. (200kms) (B,L,D)
Day 3: Today we travel a short distance to
Chambers Gorge, to see
Aboriginal rock engravings dating back thousands
of years. Then experience exciting 4wdriving to either the hidden
‘Rainbow Valley’ or ‘Lizard Rock’ all found in the rugged ranges on our
property. Accommodation as previous. (100 kms) (B,L,D)
Day 4: Travelling through Blinman to Leigh Creek
for supplies. Lunch at the award winning Copley Quandong Bakery. Also
see the coalfields and Ochre pits before continuing along the
Oodnadatta
Track to Marree. Accommodation in either cabins or Hotel room. (245kms)

Day 5: From
Marree we head along the infamous
Birdsville Track. A full day’s journey, but filled with adventure and
wonderful sights, includes stops at a hot water overflow & Mungerannie.
Overnight in cabins. Dinner at the Birdsville Hotel. (530kms)

Day 6: After a visit to the ‘Working Museum’ we
head out to 'Big Red', the highest sand dune in the
Simpson Desert. Back
for lunch then a free afternoon to wander or relax. Re-group for a BBQ
dinner. Overnight again in the cabins. (100kms) (B,L,D)
Day 7: From Birdsville we travel to
Innamincka,
via either the Cordillo Downs road or Walkers Crossing. Accommodation
for 2 nights in either cabins or hotel rooms. (320kms)

Day 8: Coongie Lakes is an oasis in the desert,
home to a variety of birdlife, and is today’s destination. (250kms)

Day 9: Today is a chance to see places made
famous by the ill-fated
Burke & Wills expedition. Leaving Innamincka we
visit the 'Dig Tree' on the way to our overnight stay in cabins at
Thargominda. (300kms) (B,L,D)
Day 10: From Thargominda we travel to
Cameron
Corner, where the 3 States meet, with accommodation in cabins at the
Corner Store. (240kms.) (B,L,D)
Day 11: After crossing through the 'Dingo Fence'
we travel through
Sturt National Park
to Tibooburra for a look around this old gold
mining area, then on to the heritage listed Mt Wood Homestead for
overnight stay.
Day 12: Leaving Mt Wood we travel back to
Tibooburra before heading to
Milparinka and Depot Glen where in 1845
Sturt’s party made an enforced camp for 6 months. Return to Broken Hill
